About Me
Hello! My name is Maddison Henderson and I have always had a deep love for animals. My personal animal experience started when I was 12 years old with pet sitting, though I was bringing stray dogs home to care for long before that! When I was 15, I started overnight pet sitting for friends and family.
The start of my professional career was being an Animal Welfare Specialist for Santa Barbara County Animal Services. I learned many valuable skills such as animal care, behavioral training, enrichment, and how to safely handle dangerous animals. After seeing dogs end up in the shelter I left with one goal in mind: to become a reputable dog trainer and help people and their dogs live a happy life, together at home. I then worked at a high volume boarding facility and was the Dog Behavior & Training Manager along with being the Daycare Manager. I ran their training program, trained staff with safe dog handling, and oversaw daycare playgroups and operations.
In August 2022 I made the decision to start my own business. It had always been my end goal and when the opportunity presented itself, I couldn’t help but take it! There was a lot of thought and representation that went into my business name. The idea came to me when my family and I were vacationing in one of our favorite and special places for us: The Big Island of Hawaii. My maiden name is Piña which translated from Spanish means “pineapple”. Everything blended so well together, and who doesn’t love clever alliteration?
My favorite part about what I do is seeing the relationship grow stronger between people and their dogs, as we navigate this new training journey together. Though my focus is training, I love that we are able to open up our home and provide boarding and daycare services. Here we strive to give our guests a “home away from home” experience with each and every stay. I am absolutely blessed to be able to do what I love for our community and their pups! My family and I thank you all for supporting my small and local business. Welcome to the pack!
Much love,
Maddison
